Born November 1, 1932, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to Perry and Dona Nichols LaMaster, Bob lived in Richmond most of his life. He worked for Avco Corporation, Hayes Track Appliance Company, Richmond State Hospital, Reid Nuclear Medicine, and at Johns Manville as a Process Engineer for 20 years. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed photography and owned LaMaster Photography for 20 years. He photographed hundreds of couples on their wedding day and many graduating seniors. Bob was a member of the Wayne County Genealogy Society, President of the Treaty Line Council of Girl Scouts, and formerly served as Lay Pastor at Central Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. A polio survivor, he believed deeply that he was saved from polio through the prayers of his family. This deep faith followed Bob throughout his life, and his faith led his decisions.
Bob became affectionately known as “Pocket” after the birth of his first granddaughter, Abigale. He loved being “Pocket” and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his family grow and passed along his love of family to his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Brian LaMaster and KeLinda (Rodney) LaMaster-Flory; four grandchildren, Adam (Donna) LaMaster, Brittany Andrews, and Abigale and Aleksander Flory; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel Anderson, Bentlee Lear, Cami Lear, and Marley LaMaster; and sister, Betty Barrett.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Uncapher LaMaster, who passed on June 1, 2020; parents; and siblings, Vi Merritt, Myrtle Furnish, Ruth Burr, Margery Bridgewater, Roland Dale LaMaster, and Mildred Roush.
Visitation for Robert LaMaster will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m., May 4, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Scalf officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.
