Kathryn Dovie Durbin Johnson 89 of New Paris, Ohio went to her heavenly home on April 12, 2022, at her home. She was born July 18, 1934, in Irving, Kentucky to William and Viola Plowman Durbin and lived in the Richmond area most of her life. She worked at nettle Creek Industries for 19 years as a quilter. She also worked at Thornburg’s Grocery, owned the New Paris Bakery, and retired from Save-a-Lot Grocery after working 11 years.
Kathryn or Aunt Kat (as her family called her) loved to crochet and made homemade quilts. She loved to do crafts, read Amish books, garden, cook and read Facebook. Blue was her favorite color and most of all she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include five children Carolyn Horn of Richmond, Brenda Gingry of New Paris, Ohio, Floyd (Linda) Johnson of Huber Heights, Ohio, Vickie Johnson of New Paris, Ohio, and Pamela Whalen of Cambridge City, 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers Charles Durbin and Arnold Mays Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal on July 28, 2013, one infant son, her parents, her sister Lula Johnson, and three brothers Ernest, Manuel, and George Durbin, sons-in-law Julius Horn and Darrell Whalen.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 18, 2022, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home 222 North 10th Street Richmond with Rev. Martin Holman officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
