A musical sibling trio with family ties to western Wayne County will be seeking your votes April 22 to continue in their quest for a national TV show prize.
The show will air from 8-10 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, April 22.
The Bundys recently made history as the first-ever trio in the history of NBC’s “The Voice” TV show.
Katey, Megan and Ryan Bundy are working with celebrity coach Kelly Clarkson as they compete for the top honor.
Ryan, 25, performs with sisters Katey, 28, and Megan, 31. The Miami University alumni grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, but they have several family members living in western Wayne County. They are among the grandchildren of Brent and Joan Bundy, and nieces and nephew of Carolyn and Harris Stearns, Jim and Diana Buhl, and David and Betsy Gethers,
In 2010, Megan moved to Nashville to pursue a solo career. She later asked Katey and Ryan to join her there and sing harmony on her album, which sparked their interest to become a trio. In 2016, they opened for LeAnn Rimes and toured the United States.
Katey later got married and now lives in Chicago, which makes working as a trio difficult. They are hoping this opportunity will bring the band back together.
Ryan told the Western Wayne News that they try not to narrowly define their genre, but would describe their sound as “old country meets bluegrass meets singer/songwriters.”
On Monday, April 15, the show debuted the Live Cross Battles in which artists from opposing teams compete head-to-head for America’s vote.
On their Facebook page, The Bundys are requesting votes during the battles. They are quickly seen on a promotional video for the new competition.
Clarkson and the other superstar coaches – John Legend, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – each will select one artist from their team to compete against an artist from an opposing team in an epic Live Cross Battle performance.
America’s vote will ultimately decide the winner of each Cross Battle and who earns a spot in the Top 24 live show.
The new Live Cross Battles round will begin with 32 artists remaining in the competition. Over the course of two weeks, eight pairs of 16 artists will perform each Monday.
On the one-hour Tuesday results show (8 p.m. April 23), host Carson Daly will reveal the winner of each Cross Battle, and 16 artists will advance to the next round through America’s vote.
For the first time, each coach also will have the opportunity to save or steal eliminated artists live in the moment. The coaches will have one save and one steal to use over the course of the Cross Battles, and they will only have 10 seconds to decide if they want to push their button to save or steal an artist.
In another “Voice” first, coaches may enter the Top 24 live show with an uneven number of artists on their team, further adding to the drama and competition.
Viewers can vote online or via a smartphone app at the end of the April 22 show. Votes can be placed at NBC.com/VoiceVote or on The Voice Official App (App Store or Google Play).
