Judy Jenkins, 75, of Richmond, passed away at Reid Health on Tuesday, March 15.
She was born Judith Marie Robinson on December 8, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana to Charles Edwin & Dorothy Lucille Lichtenfels Robinson, both of whom preceded her in death. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Centerville High School.
Judy formerly worked in the US Post Office that was located in the rear of the former Hook’s Drug Store on Richmond’s west side. She also formerly worked at Knollenberg’s in downtown Richmond and later was a pharmacy tech at CVS. She was an avid bowler in her day and played in local leagues. She was a member of Fountain City Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and the Loyal Richmond Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Judy was a member of Sugar Grove Community Church, where she participated in Bible study and shared in the preparation of many meals.
Judy was a former member of Parents Without Partners. It was there that she met Jack Jenkins. They were married on June 24, 1989. She never knew a stranger and was kind and giving toward everyone. Her passion as an animal lover led her to take care of people’s pets when needed. Judy’s proudest achievement was her family and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews.
Judy will be missed by her husband of nearly 23 years, Jack; daughters, Nicole Merrill & husband, Tim, Kim Miller & companion, James Prince; sons, Jerrold Jenkins & wife, Wilma, and Jack Jenkins, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Pam Rigsby & husband, Dennis; and several nieces & nephews.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21 at the Sugar Grove Community Church, 6404 Sugar Grove Road, west of Greens Fork. Interment will follow in Earlham Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21 at the church.
