David M. Lykins, 76, of Connersville, died Monday, March 7, 2022 at his residence.

Dave was born October 11, 1945 in Connersville to Carl C. Sr. and Patsy York Lykins. He was a 1963 graduate of Connersville High School. Dave enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Dave was employed at Ford/Visteon for 42 years. He was a member of Connersville VFW. Any leisure time that Dave had while working and after retirement was spent farming and taking care of his cattle, which he took great pride in. Dave especially loved when friends stopped by for a cup of coffee and to swap stories. You could be assured whenever you stopped by, his TV was on Fox News.

Dave is survived by his sister: Bonnie Collier of Dillsboro; brother: Larry E. Lykins and his wife, Judy of Connersville; sister-in-law: Peggy Lykins of Connersville; aunt: Rose York of Connersville; step-siblings: Harry Jessee, Garry Jessee, Charlotte Stidam, Judy Thompson, Sara Burris, Mary Lou Sparks, Brenda Jessee, Jamie Witkemper; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Rhonda Gabbard who helped with his care along with his sister, Bonnie; his faithful dogs: Willie and Satch. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his brother: Carl C. Lykins Jr.; step-mother: Kathleen Lykins.

The family would like to thank Virginia and Laura for the wonderful hospice care they provided. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Tim Fluty officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home from 11 a.m., until the time of service. Burial will follow in Orange North Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society in Dave’s honor.
