Gen Phenis, age 91, of Centerville, Indiana, died Monday, March 14, 2022, at Arbor Trace.

Born May 2, 1930, in Richmond, Indiana, to Clarence and Geneva Schneider Taube, Gen was a life-long resident of this community. She worked as a seamstress. Gen was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she served as a sacristan for years and enjoyed participating in the Women’s Club.

Survivors include her children, Jenelle (Chris) Burris of Greens Fork, Indiana, and Paul (Cheryl) Phenis of Centerville; grandsons, Trent (Katelyn) Burris of Centerville, Kevin (Jessica) Burris of Morrisville, North Carolina, and Chad (Lily) Phenis and Tyler Phenis, both of Centerville; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Skye Burris of Morrisville and Averie and Blake Burris of Centerville; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Alfred J. “Al” Phenis, who died February 14, 2019; parents; and brother, Jack Taube.

Visitation for Gen Phenis will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 815 West Main Street, Richmond with Fr. Sengole T. Gnanaraj officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
