Dan J. Barker, 64, passed away unexpectedly February 18th, 2022 at his home in White Sulphur Springs, MT. He was born July 31, 1957 in Richmond, Indiana, son of William and Patsy (Hunt) Barker. The family resided in Fountain City, Indiana. Dan graduated from Northeastern High School in 1976. He participated in basketball and track. He worked for the family business, Barker’s Fireplace Shop. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
Dan married Teresa Cook in 1976 and together they raised three children, Brandi, Erica and Jason. They attended the First Church of the Nazarene where Dan was a member. They spent their early years together camping, gardening and enjoying time with family and friends. Dan and Teresa moved to White Sulphur Springs, MT, in 1991. Dan was employed by Dixon’s Post and Pole and later Berg Garage. Dan and Teresa divorced in 1993. Dan moved back to Fountain City and resumed work at Barker’s Fireplace Shop until 2011. Over the next 10 years Dan spent time with his family and friends. Dan was close to his parents and enjoyed spending time with them. Dan recently moved back to White Sulphur Springs to be closer to his children and grandchildren. In his final year, Dan was surrounded and cared for by family and friends. Dan is best remembered for his sense of humor, being a loyal friend, his work ethic, and enjoying a good time.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patsy. Dan is survived by his children: Brandi Ohlson (Charles), Erica Novark (Nathan), and Jason Barker (Christie), and grandchildren Isaac, Adam and Sam Ohlson, Morgan and Kaitlyn Novark, Max and Bridger Barker. He is survived by ex wife Teresa Doig (Gordon). Dan is also survived by a sister and brother, Nonalee Schneider (David) and Billy Barker (Patty) as well as nephews and nieces.
