Frederick E. “Fred” Sheffer, age 80, of Centerville, Indiana, died Monday, February 21, 2022, at Reid Health.
Born October 10, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, to Willard and Pauline Crawford Sheffer, Fred was a life-long resident of this community. He served in the U.S. Army. Fred worked as a boat mechanic at Recreational Marine in Richmond for 40 years. He was a member of Cambridge City American Legion Post #169. Fred enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and puttering around, and he was quite the perfectionist.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Jane Duggan Sheffer; children, Brad (Claudia) Crumbaugh of Riverside, Ohio, and Angela (Raul) Desena of Richmond; grandchildren, Chelsea, Casey (Sara), Aaron (Taylor), Nicholas, Skylar, Gavin, Liam, Kevin, and Isaac; great-grandson, Oliver; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family, including Karen Nahun; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn King; and brother, Tom Sheffer.
Visitation for Frederick E. “Fred” Sheffer will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Ladona Webb officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
