William H. Bell, age 81, of Mooresville, Indiana, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his home.
Born January 5, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, to Thomas Edmund and Marianne Swaynie Bell, Bill lived in Richmond most of his life until moving to Mooresville in 2012. He was a 1960 graduate of Richmond High School. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army and earned numerous awards: Air Medal, two Purple Hearts, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Sharpshooter Badge, Marksman Badge, and First-Class Gunner Infantry Mortar Badge. He worked at Rodefeld’s Auto Parts for 30 years, retiring in 2001. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan and automotive enthusiast and enjoyed riding motorcycles into his late 60s.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Judy Etzel Bell; children, Shannan (David) Watt of Mooresville, Doug (Sherry) Bell of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Kristina (Mike) Mapes of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Graeham, Brandon (Katherine), and Brad (Emily); great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Austin, Liam, and Mason; niece, Cindy Box; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter; parents; and brother, Thomas F. Bell.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, there will be no public services for William H. Bell. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery’s Veteran’s Field of Honor with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
