James E. Shawhan, age 88, of Centerville, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Reid Health.
Born November 22, 1933, in Richmond, Indiana, to Edwin Earl and Hallie Meyers Shawhan, James was a life-long resident of Wayne County, Indiana. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1952 and attended Earlham College for two years. James retired from Vandor Corporation, where he served as a purchasing agent and previously worked at Nettle Creek Industries in Hagerstown, Indiana. James was a member of Centerville Christian Church. He enjoyed computers, photography, fishing, country and bluegrass music, and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Clara Juanita Williams Shawhan; daughters, Marilyn Sue (Tim) Van Zant and Shirley Ann Shawhan, both of Richmond; sister, Dorothy Banning of Economy, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Lou Hines and Betty J. Sparks.
Visitation for James E. Shawhan will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2022, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2022, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Logan Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
