Behnoush “Behi” Shaikh Mohandes Wilson, age 84, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Reid Health.
Behi was born on May 6, 1937, in Tehran, Iran, to Abdual Naghi and Farkhondeh Zand S. Mohandes. She graduated from high school in Iran and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Ball State University in 1962. Behi moved to Richmond in 1962 and became a nationalized citizen of the United States on September 4, 1964. She taught at Centerville High School from 1962 to 1965. Behi then served as a psychiatric social worker at the Richmond State Hospital from 1966 until she retired in 2001. Behi was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. From 1986 to 2000, she enjoyed being the educational sponsor for Richmond High School students and parents traveling to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Behi also graciously opened her home to host students from Italy and France.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert J. “Bob” Wilson; daughter, Sarah F. Wilson-Pruter of Florida; son, Douglas S. (Shelly) Wilson of Summitville, Indiana; granddaughter, Angelina Zand Pruter; sisters, Noushi (Bob) Myers of Niles, Michigan, and Parien (Ron) Maze and Tye Hill, both of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Laura Sherien Wilson; brother-in-law, Tom Hill; parents; and nephew, Rodney Maze.
A Celebration of Life for Behnoush “Behi” Shaikh Mohandes Wilson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 800 North A Street, Richmond with The Rev. Dr. Barbara Anne Fisher and Barry MacDowell, Deacon, officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Columbarium. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
