Robert Wayne Gabbard, 78, a lifelong resident of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, December 24, 2021 at Reid Health, Richmond.
He was born February 28, 1943 in Connersville to Elmer and Clarene Ervin Gabbard.
On November 21, 1964, he married Carol J. Daniel in Connersville. Mrs. Gabbard survives.
For over 29 years, Robert was employed at D & M and its successor White Consolidated. Later, he became the owner and operator of a professional truck driving company, B.G. Inc., for over eleven years.
He was a member of Trinity Praise and Worship Center.
In his leisure he enjoyed stock car racing, classic cars, and muscle cars. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. At home, he loved bird watching and taking care of his bird feeders. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carol Gabbard; three children, Carol Ann Gabbard Bartlett of Rushville, Indiana, Pamela Ann Gabbard and Kimberly Ann Schuck, both of Connersville; three grandchildren, Brice D. Proctor, Tyler M. Schuck, and Breanna D. Schuck; a sister, Connie Loughan of Florida; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his step mother Louise Keal; five brothers, Charles Gabbard, Elmer Gabbard, Jr., Jesse Gabbard, Paul Gabbard, and Gary Gabbard.
Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 with Reverend Tom Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.
