Knightstown – Patricia J. “Pat” Copeland, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday morning January 6, 2019, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana.
A daughter of the late Esta and Ina Mae (Lewis) Buchanan, Patricia was born in Rush County, near Carthage, Indiana on September 30, 1930. Pat grew up and attended school in the Knightstown community and graduated from Spiceland High School with the class of 1948. Pat was a farm wife.
She took pride in raising her children and helping her late husband Jim with the farming.
She had also worked at O.C. Steel in Spiceland and had been caretaker of Camp Ada Girl Scout Camp from 1980- 2012. She has made her home in Knightstown for the past 6 years.
Pat was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church and enjoyed helping with the Fall Bazaar. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and in her leisure enjoyed needle craft, genealogy and cooking. She made the best black raspberry jelly ever!
Survivors include 2 children, Joseph D. (Mary Ann) Copeland of Greenfield and Mary Kay (Brian) Conley of Indianapolis; 3 grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Debra and Laura Copeland; 2 great grandchildren, Talon and Wren.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Copeland on March 9, 2008. They were married in Carthage, Indiana on April 28, 1950; 2 sisters, Marjorie Addison and Marcile May.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday January 10, 2019 at Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown. Fr. John Hall will officiate.
