Juanita F. Gribbins, 95, of Connersville, died Friday afternoon, December 28, 2018, at Hickory Creek at Connersville where she had resided the past three years.
A native of Spiceland, Juanita was born August 20, 1923 to Earl V. and Pansy M. Reece Six. She attended school in Lewisville and was married to William L. Gribbins, Sr. on July 4, 1942 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Juanita was a homemaker and had been employed at the former W.T. Grant store in Connersville.
While in her 60s, Juanita was proud to have earned her general education diploma. She attended Western Avenue Baptist Church and loved to solve word search puzzles. Juanita enjoyed country music, especially George Jones and had attended many live concerts. Locally, she followed Garrie D. Woolery and Backstage Pass band to whom she was affectionately known as “Mom.”
Juanita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Edward L. and Connie Gribbins of Connersville; her grandchildren and their spouses: William L. Gribbins III of Connersville, Angel Hornung and Brian of New Albany, Jennifer Padley and Neil, Tara Wildridge, all of Connersville; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, including Linda Trine and her husband, John.
In addition to her father and mother, Pansy M. Six Lefler, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband who died April 3, 2003, her son: William L. Gribbins, Jr. who died January 16, 2008; her sisters: Earlene Six and Ruth Hibbard; a half-brother: John Walter Lefler; and her great-grandson: Joshua Weiss.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with her cousin, Rev. Emory Reese of Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery, Raleigh, Rush County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Wednesday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hickory Creek at Connersville for the exceptional care given to Juanita.
