Lorraine Theresa Tolar, 84, passed away at her home in Cambridge City, Indiana early Monday morning November 15, 2021 with her daughter by her side. She moved to Cambridge City seven years ago from Warwick, Rhode Island. A daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Rosary (Cardoza) Brown, Lorraine was born in Bristol, Rhode Island on February 28, 1937. She graduated as an honor student from Colt High School in Bristol. A homemaker, Lorraine had worked as a filing clerk for United Healthcare. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Cambridge City, 3rd Order of Carmelite Nuns and Sisters of St. Dorothy.
Survivors include 4 children, Jack Martin Tolar Jr., Kathy Ann Dattoli, Mary Rose Tolar and James Theodore Tolar; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Elsie Joyce Edney.
Lorraine was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Marie Tolar in 1997; 3 brothers, Sonny, Theodore and Anthony Brown.
Lorraine’s family would like to extend a special “THANK YOU” to Reid Hospice, the local EMS, Cambridge City Volunteer Fire Department and Fr. John Hall for the care and support they provided during their mom’s illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. John Hall at 11 a.m. Saturday morning November 20th at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bristol, Rhode Island.
