CAMBRIDGE CITY- Robert “Bob” Longnecker, 82, passed away Wednesday evening December 12, 2018 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville, Indiana.

A son of the late James Edward and Ruby Fern (Rudisell) Longnecker, Robert was born on April 5, 1936 in Cambridge City. A lifelong Cambridge City area resident, Bob served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1958.

He worked as a pattern maker for Bertsch & Company, Perfect Circle and Acme Patterns. He owned and operated the Dublin Pattern Shop until his retirement in 1998. He was a “handy man” at heart, and enjoyed woodworking, building, and mowing grass. Bob built his own home and constructed many wooden items for the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, where he was a member.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Helen L. Biermeier. They were married in Cambridge City on August 23, 1958; 6 children, Anthony (Debbie), Mark (Marla), and Gary (Karen) Longnecker all of Dublin; Anne (Mike) Bodwell of Cambridge City; Judy (Brownie) DeVaughn of Milton and Lori (Sam) Minniear of Fountain City. 7 siblings, Billy (Janice), Dick, John (Lisa), Tom (Donna), and Nancy Longnecker, Linda (Rick) Cline, and Christal Henderson; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob is preceded in death by 2 siblings, Cassie Lynch and Edward T. “Red” Longnecker; 2 grandchildren, Erin and Brandon Longnecker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday December 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City. Fr. John Hall will officiate. Burial with military honors conducted by contingents of the United States Army and Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until prayer services at 6 p.m. on Sunday December 16th at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.
