Phillip L. Behnen, 75, of Hagerstown, died Dec. 7, 2018, at Henry County Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Richmond to John and Elizabeth Chamberlain Behnen and lived in Wayne County all his life.
He was a 1961 graduate of Richmond High School and a 1967 graduate of IU. He was an Army veteran and retired as a teacher at Union Junior-Senior High School in Modoc.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and attended St. Elizabeth in Cambridge City.
Survivors include two brothers, William (Phyllis) Behnen and Paul Behnen; one sister, Alice (Orlie) Wood; his brother-in-law Harold Foltz; nieces and nephews; and his caring neighbors Sarah Geise and Noel Burton. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Foltz.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 13, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr. Burial will be in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thurs. at the funeral home.
