Born July 15, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana, to Herbert E. and MaryLou McClanahan Doren, Dorene moved to Centerville, Indiana, at a young age. In 1978, a few years after graduating from high school, she moved to Tampa. In Tampa, Dorene enjoyed raising orchids, going to the beach, visiting various botanical gardens, and traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana. She also loved baking birthday cakes for her friends at Kojak’s, where she worked for 27 years.
Survivors include her companion of 30 years, Ray Keen; mother; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Lamb.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Dorene will be missed by her Kojak family and many friends, including her four-legged friend, Henri.
A graveside service for Dorene Suzanne Doren will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 407 Short Street, Centerville with Pastor Tim Basford officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
