Carole Elain Vance Moegerle, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Heritage Woods of Noblesville, Indiana.
Born July 6, 1936, in Richmond, Indiana, to Orville P. and Estelle Muriel Masters Vance, Carole was a life-long resident of Wayne and Union County, Indiana. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1954. Carole worked at Farm Bureau Insurance for 17 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of the former Earlham Heights Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and clerk of session. Carole participated in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and was a member of the former Richmond Emmaus Community. She also served on the Union County School Board and was a former vice moderator for Union County Homemakers. Carole enjoyed sewing, gardening, photography, and working on her computer.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Powell of McCordsville, Indiana, and Carla (Steve) Ziemer of Sopchoppy, Florida; sons, Bruce (Betty) Moegerle of Centerville and Michael (Rhonda) Moegerle of Brownsville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Amy Moegerle, Lori and Mark Powell, Brook and Katelyn Crist, and Krysta and Mitchell Moegerle; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathryn Backmeyer of Richmond and Mary Gossard of Bloomington, Indiana; brother, Thomas Vance of Hendersonville, North Carolina; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carl Moegerle, who died October 20, 2010; parents; and brother, Jerry D. Vance.
Visitation for Carole Elain Vance Moegerle will be from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.
