James E. Grubbs, 91, of Fishers and formerly of Hagerstown went to be with his Lord and Savior and be reunited with his wife, Laura, on Monday, October 11, 2021. He was born on May 15, 1930 in Modoc to the late Marston and Crystal (Jordan) Grubbs.

James is a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from ABF in Dayton, Ohio following 23 years of service, where he was a lifelong proud member of the Teamsters Union. James was an avid sports fan, including IU Basketball, Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. In his earlier years, he volunteered at various racetracks traveling with the Jeff Gordon sprint car pit team. James was a member of the Hagerstown American Legion and attended New Testament Church of Christ.

He is survived by his son, Brent Grubbs of Fishers; siblings, Gary Grubbs of Muncie, Cheryl Hurst of Branson, Missouri, Brenda (Eric) Miller of Muncie; an aunt, Mary Jordan of San Diego, California and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Laura (George) Grubbs; brothers, Bill, Larry, Ronald and Donald Grubbs.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Gearhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Losantville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the Hagerstown American Legion and US Army.
