Loren Eugene Lilly, 86, of Lynn, IN passed away Monday afternoon, July 26, 2021 at his residence, with family by his side. He was born October 24, 1934 in Carlos, IN the son of Maurice and Helen (Williams) Lilly. He was a 1952 graduate of Spartanburg High School.
Loren received his Bachelor of Science for Vocational Agriculture from Purdue University of Lafayette, IN; his Masters for School Administration from Ball State University of Muncie, IN; and attended Asbury Seminary. He and his wife, Mary Emily, served as missionaries at Kickapoo Friends Center in Oklahoma from 1967-1973. He pastored at Rural Friends near Winchester, IN for more than 30 years. During his career, he also taught high school agriculture and worked as a Qualified Medical Assistant at the Richmond State Hospital.
During his later years, he was involved in the Allis-Chalmers Indiana Partnership organization, the Randolph County Antique Club, and Bible Study Fellowship. He also enjoyed baking pies and doing latch hook projects.
He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Brian Lilly and Deborah Lilly, both of Fountain City, IN and Michele Lilly of Lynn, IN; and close friend, Beverley Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Emily (married June 4, 1965); and a brother, Virgil.
A service to celebrate Loren’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Rural Friends Meeting, 521 E 400 South, Winchester, IN 47394. There will be a tractor parade to the Spartanburg Cemetery of Spartanburg, IN following services at the church. The lead tractor will be Loren’s reconditioned 1941 Allis-Chalmers WC. People may gather to share and remember from 12:00 noon to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Whites Residential and Family Services, 5233 S. 50 E. Wabash, IN 46992. Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
