WILLIAMSBURG – A 27-year-old man died Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, in an accident on a farm along U.S. 27.
Shortly before 5 p.m., Wayne County Emergency Communications received a call of a man trapped in a corn picker on a farm in the 7600 block of North U.S. 27.
Jonathon “Jesse” Martin had been operating a tractor-powered corn picker and became entangled in the machine while attempting to clean it, according to a news release from Mike Frame, chief deputy for Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
Martin was found by a family member. Upon arrival, emergency responders determined he was deceased.
The sheriff’s office received assistance from Richmond Fire Department, Red Line Ambulance, Fountain City Fire Department, Reid Health and the Wayne County Coroner’s office.
