She was born in Randolph County on April 27, 1932 to Phillip and Pauline (Fouts) Bales, and lived most of her life in the Hagerstown area. Joyce was a retired employee of Perfect Circle / Dana Corp. Her hobbies included flower gardening, attenting auctions, collecting antiques and horses. She was especially active in rescuing animals.
Survivors include 4 children, Terry Bales, Tim Blevins (Debra), Tony Blevins (Tina) and Paula Van Hook; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Joni Winters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert White.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 10, at Batson Cemetery. Pastor Paul Gearhardt will officiate. There will be no public calling.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Help the Animals, Inc.
