Emmanuel Grimes, age 72, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at Reid Health surrounded by his family.

Born December 2, 1948, in Symbol, Kentucky, Laurel County, to Alfred J. and Mayrene Robinson Grimes, Emmanuel lived in Richmond most of his life. He worked for Wayne Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1990. During this time, Emmanuel also owned and operated Grimes Accounting & Tax Service, from which he retired in 2016. Emmanuel was a member of Full Gospel Chapel and a longtime Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara Bond Grimes; children, Kimberly Pennington (Shawna Davis) of San Diego, California, and Scott Grimes of Richmond; granddaughter, Jordyn (Jacob) Ansel; great-granddaughter, Sloane Ansel; step-grandchildren, Ashley (Nate) Wright, Shawn (Mindy) Wampler, and Jamie (Tabitha) Dickerson; step-great-grandchildren, Scout Wampler, Kamdyn and Rilynn Dickerson, and Jonah, Jasper, and Isabel Wright; brothers, Denver (Diane) Grimes, Raymond Grimes, and Joel (Rebecca) Grimes; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hiram Grimes; and infant brother, Edward Grimes.

Visitation for Emmanuel Grimes will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Alton Hale and Bill Cox officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
