Mary Ann Benson, 88, of Greens Fork and New Castle, passed away on the morning of Sunday, June 20, 2021 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born on February 5, 1933 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, a daughter of the late Lawrence Corbett and Mary Elizabeth (Huff) Fennell.

Mary Ann was a 1951 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. She married the love of her life, James Robert “Bob” Benson on February 12, 1954. Mary Ann was a full-time wife, homemaker and mother of their 5 children. Mary Ann was an active member of the Business and Professional Women. She worked for Murphy’s 5 & 10 for two years, Dr. Harlan Shupert as a dental assistant for 16 years and Benson Farm Equipment for 20 years before retiring in 1998.

She loved spending time with her children and being involved in their activities. Mary Ann was a faithful parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle where she volunteered in numerous positions.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 67 years, James Robert “Bob” Benson; children, Kent Benson (Pat Parker), Kathy Benson Griffin, Karen (Larry) Ruckriegel, Krista (Mike) Raines; daughter-in-law, Natalie Benson; grandchildren, Mika (Brian) Lucas, Andrea (Justin) Boruff, Kiya Griffin (Tim Lander), Elizabeth (Andrew) Watson, James (Emily) Benson, Matt Raines, Gennie ( Ricky) Church, John (Sarah) Benson, Ashley Benson (Brad Dilger); great-grandchildren, Conor Lucas, Abbie Lucas, Molli Lucas, Sakagawea Watson, Watkuweis Watson, Tahquamen Watson, Ulfberht Watson, Maryna Raines, Stella Benson, Emerson Benson, Ellie Benson, Brody Benson, Daisy Dilger, Jueles Church, Jorden Boruff, Nikolaus Boruff, Thomas Boruff, Madelyn Lander and Mallory Lander. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kim Benson and brother, Donald Corbett Fennell.
