Peggy Ann Shaw passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 8, 2021 in Tampa, FL after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Her fiancé and daughter were at her side and her other immediate family members were nearby. We are all devastated and heartbroken about her loss. Peggy had just celebrated her 57th birthday at the end of Feb. Strong in her faith, Peg maintained a positive outlook throughout her treatments during her final few months after her diagnosis the week before Christmas, and she often said, “It will be as it is meant to be.”

Peggy graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1982 and was Valedictorian. She attended Indiana University at Richmond and Bloomington, and participated in IU Bloomington graduation ceremonies in 1987. While in college, Peg was honored with IU Dean’s Lists, the National Dean’s List, and an Internship with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company, CPA in Indianapolis.

Peggy’s career in Accounting functions and Financial Systems implementations took her to employments in three states, including the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort, Scottsdale AZ, and NPL Construction, Corporate Office, Phoenix AZ. Her final employment was with Wolverine Worldwide in Richmond IN. But Peg always considered raising her two beloved children as her greatest life accomplishment.

During her youth in Centerville, Peggy participated in many school functions such as Band, Drama, Yearbook and many other activities. She also loved to read, collecting books and visiting local libraries. Peg was a 10-year member of 4-H, winning honors in several crafts, sewing/Dress Revues and horsemanship. She enjoyed taking daily care of her horses and exhibiting them in local 4-H shows as well as at state/national shows, accumulating many awards, ribbons and trophies. Peg loved all animals, rescuing and caring for many. During her adult life, she adopted two rescue greyhounds and many cats as well as taking any lost animals or strays to shelter/clinics and paying for their medical needs and care. Peg’s heart was full of love and kindness. Her beautiful spirit is now free and she will be forever missed.

Peggy leaves behind her loving fiancé, Rich Williams; her two beloved children, son Roderick Eamon (Veronika) and daughter Morgan Eamon; her parents, Lloyd & Mona Shaw; her brother, Robert A Shaw (Ingrid); her two sisters, Laura Shaw and Donna Dye (Craig); her nephew, Robert L Shaw (fiancé Melanie); her aunts, uncles and cousins; and best friend, Abby Owens and her other friends and colleagues. Peggy was predeceased by her nephew, Jason Daniel and her brother-in-law, Craig Dye.

Our family is so very grateful for all of the love, support and caring messages from our and Peg’s family, friends and coworkers. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 10, 2021 at Cope Environmental Center, 1730 Airport Road, Centerville, IN 47330. Guests are welcome to arrive beginning at 10 a.m. to gather with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Peggy with a memorial donation to HELP the Animals, Inc, Richmond (https://helptheanimalsinc.com/donate) or the Animal Care Alliance, Richmond (https://animalcarealliance.com/support-us), in recognition of her lifelong love of taking care of animals; or to Cope Environmental Center (copeenvironmental.org) in memory of her love of nature.

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved on stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” (Pericles)
