E. Louise Kessler, 96, passed away on Thursday, June 3, at Reid Health.
She was born Esther Louise Stidham in Fountain City, Indiana, on November 18, 1924, the daughter of Roy & Carrie Marie Thompson Stidham, both of whom preceded her in death. Louise attended Fountain City High School.
Louise was a member of the Society of Friends. She worked as a housekeeper and babysitter for many families over the years. She was an avid quilter and had enjoyed embroidery since she was five years old. She once completed 6 of 12 panels used in a quilt that hung prominently in former Sen. Dan Coats’ office in Washington, DC. Louise was active at the Richmond Senior Center and enjoyed baking cakes and other goodies for people.
Louise is survived by nieces & nephews, friends, acquaintances and caring neighbors. She would want to recognize and give special thanks to her church caregivers as well as the special caretakers at Golden Living Center.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Burl Kessler; sister, Ruby Berry and brother, William “Bill” Stidham.
Visitation for Louise will be from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, June 8, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A funeral ceremony officiated by Pastor Bob Meckley will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 8, with interment to follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
