Steven D. Yost (50) left his earthly body to gain his heavenly one unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Born February 3, 1971, to the late Benny Yost and Judith (Flora) Yost, he had lived in Richmond all his life.
Steve was a 1989 graduate of Richmond High School, was a saw operator by trade and was a licensed minister with a heart for street ministry. Steve loved music and could play many instruments, but he especially loved his tenor saxophone, Ol’ Blue. He shared his musical gift by serving on the worship team at Grace Community Church.
He was loved by many including his wife of two years Barbara Yost , children Lizzy Blackstock and Caleb Blackstock, step-children Kori Jennings, Jonathon Jennings, Kayleigh Jennings, Brooke Jennings, Tiara Wilburn, Amber Schwartz, Rebecca Hon, Rose Abba and Christina Walton; grandchildren Jaiden Ramos, Ryleigh Walker, Leyani Walker, and Carmine Walton; brothers Terrance Yost, Walter Conley, and Rich Conley; sisters Tina Marie Pawis, Joellen Glumb Hollingsworth, and Shannon Brown Stinger; mother-in-law Barbara Sterling; sisters-in-law Lisa Sterling and Janet Grigsby; many dear friends and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and step-mother Judy Rae Hale Griffith.
Services for Steven Yost will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Monday, June 7, 2021. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. At the request of the family, masks will be required at all times while in the funeral home.
