Everett Myrel Ballinger, 82 of New Paris, Ohio, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. Born on September 2, 1938 in Orlando, Rock Castle County, Kentucky he was the son of the late Elmer & Dovie V. (Vanzant) Ballinger. Myrel was a 1957 Livingston Kentucky High School graduate. He moved to New Paris in 1958 and was the owner operator of Ballinger Plumbing & Electric for over 45 years. He sold his business in 2007 to Wallace Heating and Cooling and was active in the New Paris Chamber of Commerce. He was most recently a member of Hodgin Road Christian Church in Richmond, IN and prior to that, a member of New Paris Church of Christ. He served as an elder and taught Bible classes with both congregations. Myrel loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and attending their baseball and basketball games and other events. He enjoyed attending Gospel music concerts, traveling, hunting, and fishing. Preceded in death by sister: Geneva Hedgepeth in 2001; brothers: William D. Ballinger and Victor Lee Ballinger. Survived by wife of 63 years: Carol D. (VanWinkle) Ballinger; children: Tammy J. Wackler of New Paris, OH; Randy & Gina Ballinger of New Paris, OH and Michael Scott & Cindy Ballinger of Greenfield, IN; brothers: Harold D. (Edith) Ballinger of McKee, KY and Walter E. (Deloris) Ballinger of Berea, KY; nine grandchildren, Natasha (Jason) Hart, James Wackler, Bradley (Claire) Ballinger, Daniel (Megan) Ballinger, and Andrew Ballinger, Ben (Joy) Ballinger, Aaron Ballinger and thirteen great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday June 1, 2021 at Barnes Funeral Home – 109 West Main Street New Paris, OH. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Derek Trenum and Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris.
