With sadness and love, the family of David Russell Dumford announces his passing at his home in New Castle with his wife, Lisa by his side on Monday, May 24th from an extended illness.
Dave was born May 13, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana and was a son of the late Omar Woodrow Dumford and Helen June Ward.
Dave was a 1968 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School and was employed with Perfect Circle Dana Corporation of Richmond for 30 years before retiring in 1998. Upon retirement, Dave was also known to do home restoration in New Castle to improve neighborhoods and provide beautiful homes for home ownership to families for making memories. He was an avid gardener, and his beautiful lawn and gardens were featured in a garden tour that won “Best in Show” in 1999. He enjoyed creating new garden areas and providing places for birds to feed and flourish.
Dave loved to travel and was able to see Europe, Hawaii, and other parts of the world. His favorite place was St. Pete Beach, Florida where he enjoyed family vacation time there with his daughter, Kyia and wife, Lisa. Dave was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and traveled across the United States on his motorcycle with many friends and making new ones along the way. He never met a stranger and was always kind and generous and was always curious to experience new adventures. One of Dave’s favorite things to do was meet with all his friends for “Thursday gatherings.” He also enjoyed spending time with his niece, Michelle Fraszier and her husband Bill Fraszier along with their daughter, Marley (great-niece to Dave) of New Castle. Dave always left an impression and was admired by all who knew him. He will be missed dearly by so many.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann Bouslog Dumford; children, Kyia Dumford, at home and Tracy Dumford (Jason Green) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; siblings, Judy (Rick) Phillips, Linda Latham, Cindy (Jim) Eldridge, Becky (Arthur) Billeaudeaux, Gail (Bill) Edwards, all of New Castle, and John Scott (Susan) Dumford of Chicago; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dick (Donna) Bouslog, Lana Enlow, Greg Brouslog; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
