Mary Frances “Fran” Engle, age 104, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, October 26, 2020, at Friends Fellowship Community.
Born February 27, 1916, in Quincy, Ohio, to Charles C. and Golda Sarver Patton, Fran lived in Richmond most of her life. She graduated from Indiana Business College and attended IU East. Fran was an author and served as an administrative assistant at Earlham College. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Fran was also a member of P.E.O. and a member-at-large of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was a former volunteer for Reid Hospital and Meals on Wheels of Richmond, Inc.
Survivors include her sons, Alan R. Engle of Redding, California, and Duane F. (Nancy) Engle of Seminole, Florida; grandchildren, Chris, Ann, Laura, Lauren, and Jennifer; three great-grandchildren; nephews, Greg and Jeff Wessel; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert M. Engle, who died in 1985; daughter-in-law, Lisa Engle; parents; and sister, Reva Wessel.
Memorial service for Mary Frances “Fran” Engle will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main Street, Richmond with Pastor Joseph Seger officiating. Please plan to wear your own mask in the church. Burial was held in Spring Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
