Lucinda (Cindy) Johnson, Richmond, was born on March 3, 1931 in Clayhole, Kentucky; the daughter of Green and Dulcina Roberts. She passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Reid Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Cindy was a resident of Richmond, retired, and loved game shows, crossword puzzles, and (as she got older) reading the headlines of the newspapers with her magnifying glass.

Long known by others by her smiling face and warm greeting. Family and friends knew Cindy for her story telling (or the same one time and time again). She loved to laugh, and did so often. Cindy was outgoing. She enjoyed attending social events with family, going to and watching bowling, shopping for stuff she may not be able to live without, spending money on “as seen on TV” items, and talking on the phone. Cindy was an avid Kentucky Wild Cats and Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved listening to country music, especially Conway Twitty and The Oakridge Boys and even attended an Oakridge Boys concert. Cindy attended and assisted in many live country music shows put on by her daughters as well.

Cindy has never forgotten her roots in the bluegrass state; the hills of Kentucky. She consistently looked forward to visiting family and spending time there. Lucinda is known by everyone throughout the “holler” of Clayhole, Kentucky.

Cindy was the matriarch of the family, where the family relied on her strength. Her family knows her as the one who can solve problems, argue, and complete a sentence with a single groan. She has touched so many lives in her ninety years of life.

She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Beverly Waskom, Kenneth (Karen) Johnson, Wanda Johnson, Ronald Johnson, and Brenda McDonald, all of Richmond. She has five grandchildren; Kristol Ponder, Brian Ponder, Michael Johnson, Paul McDonald, and Hillary (Matt) Gullion. Cindy has been blessed with many great grandchildren; Cierra Bowman, Tyler Bowman, Jordin Rosser, Kaleb Ponder, Brooklynn Conner, Eden Gullion, Brielyn Schwab, Kaden Gullion, Michael Johnson II, and Christian Johnson. She was made double great by Zephaniah “Little Britches” Robinson (where she got her good sugar). Cindy was expecting the blessing of her second great great grandchild in November.

Cindy was preceded in death by her Father, Green Roberts and Mother, Dulcina (Duff) Roberts. Her brothers; Chester, Fred, John C., Cleve, Boone, Douglas, George, Harlis, Bill, Joe, Willie, and Mark. Her sisters; Susie, Aney, Mary, Polly, Ruth Roberts, David Roberts, Timothy Roberts, son-in-law Larry Waskom, and niece Sandy Watts.
