Shirley Marlene Brant, 84, of Greens Fork, Indiana died on Sunday November 22, 2020, as a result of COVID 19. The only child of Herbert F. and Audra L. (Bane) Oler. She was born June 27, 1936 in Wayne County, IN. She graduated Class of 1954 from Greens Fork/Clay Township High School.
She was a deeply devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her commitment to her family never wavered through many trials.
Marlene was extremely gifted musically from a young age. She was highly regarded and performed professionally with many musicians and groups both locally and regionally. She loved the old standards, country and gospel songs and could play by ear any song she heard.
Her love of music and performing sparked a romance and 43-year marriage to Errol L. Brant (deceased 2018). During her life with Errol and as a military wife she was blessed to live in many parts of the U.S. A dream come true was the time they spent living in Hawaii, she cherished those memories.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Pugh of Wheeling, WV, son Tom (Wendy) Canon of Richmond, IN, grandchildren Ryan (Jennifer) Canon, Bryan (Sarah) Canon, Ashley (Zakk) Rainer, Amanda (Cory) Driskill, and great grandchildren Sadie, Leah, Joshua, Maya.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Errol and son Randy Scott Canon.
Marlene’s wishes were no public calling. A graveside committal service will be May 4, 2021 at 5:30pm at Greens Fork South Cemetery.
A committal service for son Scott Canon will also be held at this time.
