Daniel S. “Big Mama” Bostick, age 68, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 19, 2021, at his home.
Born September 5, 1952, in Richmond, Indiana, along with his twin sister, Donna, to Elmer Marvin and Janice Eilene Brown Bostick, Dan graduated from Centerville High School in 1970. He owned and operated the Soda Bar, where he was fondly known as “Big Mama” to his friends. Dan moved to California in 1979 and lived there until returning home in 2003. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Dan also enjoyed all sorts of sports and was called “Coach” by lots of little leaguers. He sponsored and supported many recovering drug addicts and alcoholics and was personally grateful for staying clean for 18 years. Dan served as a caregiver for adults in an assisted living home through Help at Home, Inc., where he had many friends and coworkers. However, “Uncle Dan” was most at home on his sister and brother-in-law’s farm in Union County, Indiana, enjoying farm life with their 15 children and especially his goddaughter, Shalyn.
Survivors include his sister, Denise (Paul) Moster of Liberty, Indiana; brothers-in-law, Jerry Goodyear of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Mike Smock of Centerville, Indiana; 18 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dianna Goodyear, twin sister, Donna Smock, and infant twin sisters; and twin brothers, David and Donald Bostick.
