He retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. Carl was a veteran serving during Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed at Hills and PK Lumber. Carl was a 59 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved spending time with his family, teaching his grandsons to ride dirt bikes and taking them to the shooting range.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Helen (Carl) Hoffman and Karian Dishman; grandchildren, Jason Dishman, Chris Dishman, Jennifer Dudley, Eric Burke and Brittney Sorrell; eleven great grandchildren; brothers, James Francis Burke, Charles Wayne Burke and David Burke; several half and step siblings and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Burke; a daughter, Sharian L. Murphy and siblings, Orville William “Billy” Burke, Harold Edward Burke, Betty Lou Burke, Dorothy Jane Burke, Earla Maxine Burke, Jackie Lee Burke and Carol Sue Burke.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tony Piper officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday. Masonic services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate face coverings are required.
