When asked about her greatest desire in life, the response was always clear: “I want a family.” Although Linda and Mike enjoyed several years of marriage without children, her heart became full with the birth of their two sons, Derek and Josh. With Mike at her side, Linda dotingly watched as Derek and Josh experienced the many joys of childhood, from classroom birthday parties to family vacations in Florida to baseball fields. Back to school shopping was one of Linda’s favorite annual events, although her boys may not have shared a similar enthusiasm! She brimmed with pride as her boys grew up, graduated from college, and traveled the world. Linda was unabashed in talking about her boys with friends and family; if you started a conversation with her, chances were that you would have to hear all about how they were doing.
In more recent years, as Linda’s health battles increased, she was blessed with the birth of a granddaughter, Ellie, in 2019. Next to having children, Ellie was the greatest joy in her life. Ellie’s presence rejuvenated her soul. Last year, Ellie and her mother, Anna, had the opportunity to visit her grandparents in Richmond. Although the visit was cut short by the pandemic, Linda cherished her moments with her granddaughter. Despite Josh and his family residing in England, Linda cultivated a close relationship with Ellie – always enjoying their daily video chats. At the conclusion of each chat, Ellie, in her own unique way, placed her forehead on the camera – her way of giving Grandma a kiss goodbye.
She will be missed by her husband, Michael Worch; sons, Derek Worch and Dr. Joshua (Anna) Worch, along with their daughter, Ellie; sister, Vella Johnson; sister-in-law, Jan Davis; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including Nickie Ross.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Davis, Charles Davis, and Jim Davis; and sisters, Norma Gibson, Gene Wise, Elizabeth Bright, and Zoe Owens.
Visitation for Linda will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Masks are required, and please social distance as best as possible while at the funeral home. Burial will be at Goshen Cemetery.
