Martha Lee Soper, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Rosebud Village.

Born August 10, 1934, in New Castle, Indiana, to Gilbert and Mae Joyce Foyst, Martha lived all of her life in this area. She retired after 28 years of teaching elementary school for Richmond Community Schools. After her retirement, Martha taught and helped people attain their GED, including numerous people at the Wayne County Jail. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and Tri Kappa Sorority. Martha was a former Stephen Minister. She loved to travel and go on cruises. Martha was loving mother and wife and good friend and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Walt Soper; children, Debbie (Bill) Shake of Richmond, Brad (Rhonda) Parker of Greens Fork, Indiana, and Scott (Pam) Soper of Richmond; grandchildren, Whitney and Taylor Shake, Jason Parker, Jessica Miller, and Tracy Soper; five great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ann Dann; and brother, Joe Foyst.

Visitation for Martha Lee Soper will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home. Please plan to wear your own mask in the funeral home. Private burial will be in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
