Bonnie L. Farmer, 88, of Modoc, passed on to her Heavenly Home, at the home of her daughter and her husband, on Monday, March 22, 2021, following a brief illness.

She was born in New Castle on July 18, 1932 to Russell and Blanche (Lannerd) Fuson and was a lifelong resident of Wayne and Randolph Counties. Bonnie was an active member of New Beginnings Worship Center and its women’s group. Bonnie always enjoyed working on the farm with her family. She hosted many family dinners at her home, and never turned away anyone who was there at lunchtime. Both sides of her family enjoyed coming to spend time at her home. Early in her married life she sold Amway products and Dutchmaid clothing. She had also been employed by People’s Loan and Trust in Modoc and Economy. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed activities that her family were involved in.

Survivors include 2 children, Dixie (David) Felton, Modoc, and Lee (Brenda) Farmer, New Castle; 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Felton, Amy (Garth) Jenkins, both of Modoc; Jessica (John) O’Conner, Lake Elsinore, CA; and, Mathew Farmer, Victorville, CA; a step-granddaughter, Sarah Gilley, New Castle; 7 great-grandchildren, Sean & Natalie O’Conner, Lake Elsinore, CA; Macy (Joshua) Arrington, Colorado Springs, CO; Morgan Felton, Modoc; Kaulen Jenkins, Carmel; Elizabeth & Carter Jenkins, Modoc; and, 4 step-great-grandchildren, Hannah (Zak) Klaine, Allentown, PA; Maeve O’Conner, Indianapolis; Ronan O’Conner, Fort Wayne; and, Ruby Gilley, New Castle. Also surviving is a sister, Martha (John) Hershauer, Westport; daughter-in-law, Michelle Farmer, Victorville,CA; and, brother-in-law, Kenneth Gray, Hagerstown. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Farmer; son, Dee Jay Farmer; and, 3 sisters, Leora Himelick, Peggy Gray and Margaret Kirtley.
Brother-in-laws Gene Himelick and Dale Kirtley are also deceased.

In accordance with Bonnie’s wishes, there will be no calling. A private graveside service, for family and friends, will be held in Economy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to New Beginnings Worship Center, 2121 S. Memorial Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
