Manhunt ends; 2 Cambridge City residents arrested

A manhunt in Cambridge City ended with an arrest in a little less than two hours.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, a Cambridge City Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop on High Street in Cambridge City.
The driver, Brandon Michael McDonald, 24, fled the stop into his residence in the first block of High Street with the officer pursuing, according to a news release from Cambridge City Police Chief Richard Roberts.
Once in the residence, the officer tried to apprehend McDonald. However, Roberts said McDonald fled from the rear of the home with assistance from McDonald’s girlfriend, Heather Nicole Moffitt, 22. Jail records list Moffitt’s address as the High Street residence.

A foot pursuit ensued but McDonald ran into a heavily wooded area and was not located at that time, Roberts said.
At approximately 4:42 p.m., the officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Boundary Street of Cambridge City for a suspicious person. Roberts said that person turned out to be McDonald, who was then taken into custody without further incident.
McDonald now faces a warrant out of Henry County, Ind.; and charges of resisting law enforcement (A misdemeanor); driving while suspended (A misdemeanor); and neglect of a dependent (Level 6 felony).
Moffitt faces charges of obstruction of justice (Level 6 felony); resisting law enforcement (A misdemeanor); and neglect of a dependent (Level 6 felony).
Cambridge City officers were assisted at the scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Hagerstown Police Department, Centerville Police Department and Dublin EMS.
