Robert J. Carter was born June 26th, 1925 in Jackson, Alabama. The son of the late Robert and Maggie Anderson Carter.
Robert moved to Richmond, Indiana in 1943 and joined Bethel AME Church where he sang with the Fisherman’s choir and was a loyal member until his passing on Wednesday March 10th.
Robert worked for various companies through out his life with the most recent being Design Manufacturing (D&M) until he retired in the early 1980’s.
Robert loved being out-doors. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and barbequing in his younger years. Robert also loved to sit outside in front of his house and listen to a baseball game or people watch. Robert knew no strangers and always had a firm handshake and a good conversation with all he met.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory to his daughter, Marsetta Isom (Indianapolis) and his sister Annie Ruth Sanders (Richmond). Three grandchildren, Aaron Isom (Sherry) Erica Vanlandingham (Martel) and Robin Isom (Ben). Robert had eight great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Pete Garret, David Carter and Joseph Carter, two sisters Lois Hamilton and Catherine Kinnion.
Funeral services for Robert will be held Wednesday March 17th at Community Family Funeral Home with a friends and family hour at 12:00pm and funeral services at 1:00pm with Rev. Freddie Banks officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Earlham Cemetery.
