Jane Ellen Smith, age 65, a New Castle resident, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. She was born September 29, 1955 in New Castle, Indiana and was a daughter of the late John and Maxine Vaughn Mark.
She was a high school graduate and spend many years as the wife of a career military serviceman. She and her husband, John Smith, were stationed many places around the world. Jane was a member of the Church of LatterDay Saints and had worked for the Indiana School for the Blind and Deaf. She loved being a homemaker and treasured being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, John Smith; two daughters, Heather Hurst and Donna Smith; stepdaughter, Jeanie Justice; two sons, John Smith and Reverend Tobby Smith (Rachel); grandchildren, Zachary Hurst (Rachel), Clair Lane, Conner Delk, Austin Smith, Cheyenne Delk, Tobby Hurst, Sabrina, Kaily, and Pipper Smith; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister, Linda Heath.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Bishop Joe Jackson officiating.
