Mary Theresa Altenbach (née Portanova) passed peacefully on January 27, 2021. Mary was born in Richmond, Indiana, on January 1, 1926 to Antonio and Francesca Portanova. For seven years she was the only woman to play in the Kroger Senior Classic Pro-Am Golf Tournament and was thrilled when one year she was teamed with Neil Armstrong. She was Bel-Wood Country Club’s women’s and senior club champion for many years. She was a member of Clovernook Country Club for many years. She was the Hospitality Manager at Kings Island McDonalds for 17 years; a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She worked on her 92nd birthday! For several years she was the personal manager for Davey Concepion.

Mary was predeceased by her husbands Dr. Hilton M. Altenbach and William A. Waldron, her parents, brothers William Portanova, Mike (Annette) Portanova, and sisters Lucille (Bill) Cooper and Viola (Ivan) Foust. Mary is survived by her daughters Janet Nye and Marilyn Altenbach (Ruth Stutes), and her grandson David A. (Chelsea) Nye of Keene, NY, her sister Lena Mullins of Richmond, Indiana, and lots of grand doggies. Also survived by several generations of nieces and nephews. Mary was very proud of her Italian heritage.
