Michael Lynn York, age 70, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born February 8, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of Wendell and Juanita (Taylor) York.
Michael worked at the Henry County Highway Department for five years and for Wayne Trucking Company for 15 years. He was an avid fisherman, involved in BFL All American, FLW Top 8 in Lake Monroe, Muncie Bass Busters Club, and qualified for Bass Masters State Tournament. He was fond of his fishing buddies which there are just too many to mention.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina (husband, Derek) Cochran, Amy and Allison; a son, Chris York, all of New Castle; he was grandfather of Samantha (Zach Doerflein), Kalee , Shady (Devon Reffitt) Pinnick, Tyler (Aeriel Augenstein), and Zoe (Alyssa Cole) Dishman, Michael York, Skyler and Destiny Robinson, Jaxson and Nevaeh Hudson; step-grandfather of Chase Cochran; great-grandfather of eight; his long-time friend, Barry Kendall; three brothers, Tony (Cheryl), Mark, and Brian (Sue Redwine) York; brother-in-law, Rick Bailey; aunt, Janet Garrard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy York, daughter, Casey York, granddaughter, Sara Winchester; his sisters, Donna and Connie York and his brother, Gary York; brother-in-law, Jim Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Reverend Brett Rains officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral directors and staff are honored to serve the York family.
