James Ellis Taylor, 79, Cambridge City, passed away Saturday evening January 23, 2021 in the emergency room at Henry Community Health in New Castle, Indiana. A son of the late Summitt and Lucyle (Covalt) Taylor, James was born in New Castle, Indiana on April 8, 1941. He grew up in Millville, graduated from Hagerstown High School and had lived in New Lisbon prior to moving to his current residence over 40 years ago. James retired from Borg-Warner Automotive in Muncie where he worked as a machinist. He had also been employed by Miller Pipeline and New Lisbon Telephone Co.. James was a true servant of God, who never knew a stranger and would help anyone who needed a hand. He has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cambridge City for over 40 years. He was also a 40 year plus member of the New Lisbon Lion’s Club where he served as president and served many years on the New Lisbon Volunteer Fire Dept. James enjoyed mentoring children and worked with many youth organizations throughout his life. He was an avid hunter in his younger years and enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and playing euchre.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, the former Sally Kay Milburn. They were married near Louisville, Kentucky on September 1, 1979. 3 sons, Greg Taylor of New Castle, Michael (Dee) Taylor of N. Carolina and Clinton Taylor of New Castle; 3 grandchildren, Coy Taylor of Tennessee, Kiersten (Justin) Moon of Alabama and Daniel (Tracy) Taylor of Connersville; sister in-law, Martha Taylor of Hagerstown. James was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Taylor.

Cremation will take place at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be announced in April. Hopefully when COVID19 restrictions have eased.
