Cathy Jo Brown, age 66 of New Castle died Friday, January 22, 2021, peacefully in her home with her family following a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 13, 1954 in New Castle, Indiana and was the daughter of Joseph Milton Whitehouse and Mary Katherine Stickelman Whitehouse.
She was a 1973 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and she also graduated from Ivy Tech. Cathy worked many years at the Division of Family and Children and most recently retired from Keihn in Greenfield after 22 years of service. Cathy married the love of her life, Wayne, on July 19, 1985. She loved her family, treasured being a devoted daughter and being a wife and mother to her two daughters. She was the kindest, sweetest, selfless person and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Brown, her two daughters, Misti (husband, Slim) Asberry-Karkar of Pans, France and Aimee (companion, Jeremy Guffey) Asberry of Mooreland, Indiana; two sisters, Sandy (husband, Phil) Langston of Anderson, Indiana and Karen Cox of Richmond, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a niece, Tonya Langston; a nephew, Troy Langston; her father-in-law, Edwin Brown; her mother-in-law, Imogene Brown; a brother-in-law, Dale Brown and sister-in-law, Louise Riddle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Henry County Hospice. Friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Reverend David Brown will be officiating and burial to follow at South Mound Cemetery.
