Connersville resident, Shafter Grubb, 91, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Shafter was born to Harvey and Fannie Jackson Grubb on March 14. 1929 in Clay County, Kentucky. He married the former Janet Harris in 1972. Shafter was a proud member of his local UAW, and was faithfully employed at the Ford Motor Company from which he retired. He attended the Indianapolis Baptist Church prior to moving to Connersville and becoming a member of Everton Baptist Church. Shafter taught himself how to play the banjo and the guitar. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, throwing horseshoes, bowling and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. Shafter was devoted to his family, they always came first in his book. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Shafter is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Janet; sons: Jerry Grubb and Iris, Jim Grubb and Laura, Michael Thacker, Brian Thacker and Melody; daughters: Janice Reed and Keith, Lisa Jewell and Bruce, Debbie Hammer and Terry, Tina Thacker Owens; brother: Jasper Grubb; sister: Marie Wolfe and Fred; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Shafter is preceded in death by his son Michael Grubb.
At the request of the family, a Celebration of Life will be conducted on January 30, 2021, at The John H. Miller Community Center in Roberts Park at 2900 North Park Road Connersville, Indiana from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville has been entrusted with arrangements.
