Mable Gross Bailey, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020, at home, surrounded by family.

Mable was born February 9, 1934, in College Corner, Indiana, to Charles and Effie Bell Gross. She attended Liberty High School. Mable retired from Richmond Community Schools, where she worked 21 years as a cashier. Mable previously worked at Montgomery Ward for a number of years. She was a member of Ravinia Park Baptist Church. Mable loved to garden and canned each season. She also enjoyed sewing and taking care of her home and family.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Charlie Bailey; daughter, Darla Bailey of Louisville, Kentucky; siblings, Lena Mae Bertsch, Phillip (Marilyn) Gross, Donald (Cathy) Gross, Ruth Ann (Dave) VanWinkle, Penny (Jeff) Blackmore, and Mary Lou (Jake) Pace; and two special people in her life, who she treated like daughters, Barbara Swart and Liz Sneed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charles, Jerry, Gene, and Jimmy Gross.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Vicki Nelson, Alyssa Fellers, and Cassidy Frame for their love and support as caregivers.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for Mable Gross Bailey will be private. The funeral service will be livestreamed at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020, on the Doan & Mills website. A memorial service for Mable will be announced by the family in the spring. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
