Robert A. “Bob” Hinshaw, 81, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, December 28.
He was born in Winchester, Indiana on September 16, 1939, to Ralph Carl and Esther Dudley Hinshaw, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1957 graduate of Lynn High School. He sang and danced in high school. He also tap-danced and played Hawaiian steel guitar in a xylophone band and was active in 4-H in his youth.
Bob married the former Joylene (Joy) Martin 62 years ago on November 22, 1958. They were blessed with two children. Bob worked in the mail room at AVCO for 16 years. He later worked in the warehouse of Miller Dairy for 16 years before going to work in the warehouse of Woodruff’s Plastics. He was an avid CB radio and HAM operator (KB9MYL). He enjoyed spending time on the lakes camping and fishing and enjoyed photography. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn.
Bob will be missed by his wife, Joy; Daughter, Debbie Tiemann & husband, Phil; son, Bruce Hinshaw & wife, Susan; 4 grandchildren, Brittney Helt & husband, Alex, Lindsey Tiemann, Kristen Bingham & husband, Sean, Alan Hinshaw & wife, Rachel; 1 great granddaughter, Rebecca (Becca) Hinshaw; sister, Marilyn Engle.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tommy Hinshaw.
Bob’s family held a private service at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment was in Spartanburg Cemetery.
