Hilda D Luerman Dickman Herold, 92, passed away peacefully at Reid Memorial Hospital on December 19, 2020.
Hilda was born August 1, 1928 to Henry J. and Hedwig Seegers Luerman in Richmond, IN. Her parents moved here from Germany in 1925. Hilda went through St. Andrews Catholic School for 8 years, then went to Richmond High School graduating in 1946. She worked as a secretary until she married Jerome Dickman who was a farmer. Hilda and Jerome started their family having Joe, John, Tom, Marilyn, Barbara, Jim and Mike. Another son Eddie died as an infant. Being a farmer’s wife kept her very busy and she also worked for Dr. Charles Sage, Reid Hospital radiology department and former co-owner of Dickman and Sons International Harvester dealership. Hilda was a past member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and YMI Auxillary. For 29 years Hilda spent 8 months out of the year in Florida where she enjoyed golfing and bowling and spent the summer months in Richmond. In 2016 she moved back to Richmond full time.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Jerome Dickman, who died from cancer in 1982. In 1986 she married Ralph Herold whom died of a heart attack in 1997 and sister, Mary Maurer, brothers, Carl Luerman and Robert Luerman. Step-granddaughter, Melissa Gaddis and step grandson, Ryan Herold.
Hilda is survived by 7 children: sons Joe (Shirley) of Gainesville, GA, John (Susie) of Flowery Branch, GA, Tom (Lou) of Richmond, Jim (Celeste) of Dawsonville, GA and Mike (Kristi) of Ball Ground, GA and daughters Marilyn (Fred) Haber of Eaton, OH and Barb of Canton, GA. 15 Grandchildren: Joe Dickman,III, Kristopher Dickman, Kevin (Ginger) Dickman, Erin Dickman, Brad (Amy) Cox, Chad (Catherine) Cox, Jameson (Michelle Comstock) Dickman, Alexia Dickman and Olivia Dickman all of GA, Cara Cooper of FL, Alex (Cathryn) Dickman of Richmond, Heidi (AJ) Amspaugh of Indianapolis , John Haber, Bryan (Emily) Haber and Ann (Mike) Weadick all of Eaton, OH and 18 great-grandchildren. 5 step children: Cheri (Dick) Gaddis of Richmond, Mike (Mindy) Herold of Merritt Island, FL, Tom (Cindy) Herold of Flushing, MI, Rick (Brenda) Herold of Martinsville, IN, and Ron (Denise) Herold of Flushing MI, 15 step grandchildren and 8 great step grandchildren and dearly loved them all. One brother, Rev. John Luerman of Richmond and one sister, Martha Jane (Cliff) Dickman of Richmond.
A private family Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11:30am at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Richmond. The Visitation will begin at 10:00am prior to the Mass. The Rev. John Luerman of Richmond will officiate The Burial will be at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Hilda’s memory to: The Wayne County Foundation, 33 S 7th St., Richmond, IN 47374.
