Jimmie C. “JC” Smith, age 83, of New Paris, Ohio, died Friday, December 18, 2020, at Reid Health.
Born September 17, 1937, in Harriman, Tennessee, to Edgar and Louie Franklin Smith, JC served in the U.S. Air Force. He had lived in this area since 1959. JC was a brakeman and conductor for the railroad for 35 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason. JC loved fishing and old cars. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Delores Stevens Smith; children, Jamie R. Smith of West Alexandria, Ohio, Deborah (Randy) Crane of Richmond, and Jimmie C. (Jami) Smith of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Hickerson; brothers, Chester and William Smith; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jack T. and Robert E. Smith.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for Jimmie C. “JC” Smith will be private with Shepherd Denver Conway officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
